Sword Play is a 2D sidescroller where the player controls a sword and using it controls the movement of the wielder.  This is a prototype of that concept created by a team of 3 people (we split up the tasks so 1 was pixel art & animation, 1 was coding, 1 was design document and ideas) and a first attempt to create a 2D game with the Unity game engine for PirateGames GameJam#16 Late Entry.

Inspiration:

The idea for a focus on momentum as the source of movement is derived from a variety of sources such as 2D platformers like Super Mario Bros.

Simultaneous interaction with environments and enemies is a key feature of the game with both the NPC’s and the player being vulnerable to many of the same sources of damage.

Controls

WASD or Arrow keys to move with SPACE to jump.
